HOTEL|KITCHEN: Reducing Food Waste in Baltimore's Hospitality Industry

Use this link to register:  Hotel Kitchen

Why focus on food waste?

  • For every $1 invested in food waste reduction in hotels, there is a $7 return over a 3-year period

  • The level of food insecurity in Baltimore is almost double the national average

  • One quarter of deforestation is a result of producing food never eaten

Want to learn more about how you can help reduce food waste in Baltimore?

In this workshop, you will learn best practices for reducing food waste at each stage of the flow of food. Topics include how to:

  • Build interest in food conservation at your workplace
  • Set goals and measure food waste to improve the bottom line
  • Create and sell sustainable menus
  • Conduct food waste audits
  • Donate excess food using technology platforms
  • Setup composting programs
  • Select diversion (from landfill) solutions

If you are involved in any aspect of hospitality foodservice, this workshop is for you - whether you sell it, order it, handle it, prepare it, serve it, or dispose of it, you can contribute to food waste reduction. If you work for a hotel, you can attend this event for free by emailing [email protected] from your hotel email account (up to 2 free attendees per property).

Vendors who offer services and technology solutions will be on hand to demonstrate their products and answer your questions. If you offer a product or service that helps reduce food waste in hospitality, email [email protected] to learn more about exhibiting at the workshop.
