Meet your Board!

An Introduction to your 2017 Baltimore NACE Board of Directors.

President - Scott Johnson, CPCE, CMP


Scott has over 25 years in the hospitality industry.  He worked at Marriott International over 16 years and was the Director of Catering at two other hotels.  He currently is a Global Account Executive with ConferenceDirect for the past 8 years.   Scott took time away from the food and beverage side for 3 years to work on installation and training in hotels with the software company, MeetingMatrix International. 

 During his years with Marriott, he has been part of the Revenue Management Team of the Year as well as the Global Sales Team of the Year.   Scott has been active with NACE since 2002 and a member on and off the Board since 2005.


Vice President - Chris Sikora, MBA

I'm excited by the opportunity to serve the members of the NACE Baltimore Chapter for a second year. I've been attending chapter meetings and events since 2007.  I'm proud of the work this chapter has done and I plan to help this chapter grow and prosper in the future.  

From 2006 to 2011 I owned and operated Sweet Bakery in Ellicott City and Baltimore, which specialized in wedding cakes.  from 2013 to May of 2016 I was the wedding specialist at Pier 5 Hotel.  Since May I've been a senior catering sales executive at the Marriott BWI.  I'm dedicated to our industry and am eager to learn and grow.


Immediate Past President – Rachel Hoffberger

Rachel Hoffberger, formerly an accomplished construction manager in the Baltimore area, uses her project management expertise and creative drive to direct the Event Design and Management company, Plan It Perfect. Since her days as a construction manager, Rachel worked as an event coordinator and catering sales associate at some in-house catered venues before landing at Plan It Perfect. What led Rachel to her career in events were her educational background in art and architectural design and her innate creativity with her meticulous quality control to provide her clients with a worry-free event that they can enjoy.

Rachel has served on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore chapter of NACE since 2011, with roles including Co-Director of Fundraising, Director of Membership, President, and Past President.

 Treasurer - Ryan Felps

Ryan Felps is the co-founder and President of StarChapter.  An entrepreneur at heart, he began StarChapter as an attempt to solve serious problems local chapters face in regards to maintaining a website, handling emails, member data and event registration.  As a ‘webmaster’ for a local chapter, Ryan saw firsthand what struggles volunteers face.  He is involved in shaping the company culture, application design, sales and marketing.  Ryan has spoken at many national association conferences sharing insights and information learned from many years of association management involvement.  A Baltimore native and city resident, Ryan enjoys racing sailboats in the harbor and dreams of one day cruising his own sail boat to far off destinations with his wife and four children.


Secretary - Martha Olney

Martha Olney chose catering as a second career after taking time off from high-tech marketing to raise her children. She wanted a career that highlighted her passion for food with her gifts of hospitality and organization. Since 2000, Martha has been actively involved in catering from the kitchen, to event management and catering sales. She currently serves as Catering Director with Restaurant Associates at their sole Baltimore location – Harbor Tower Events at the Legg Mason Tower. Martha brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to NACE.

Director of Membership - Shelby Haile

Shelby is excited to be serving as  Director of Membership, a role that is familiar to her through her years of working with members of the Baltimore Country Club.  More recently, Shelby has been enjoying her new position as Event Planner and General Manager at Rutland Beard Florist, located in Ruxton.  This has kept her close to her alma mater of Towson University, where she studied Forensic Chemistry!  It might seem like quite a departure between her studies and her career, but Shelby claims one of her favorite parts of being a floral studio manager and event planner is the "science involved in it all - timing, details, and everything coming together like a well-choreographed dance."

Happy New Year! As the Maryland and Northern Virginia Account Executive with AFR® Event Furnishings, I relish the opportunity to be a collaborative partner with my clients. This has translated into my role as Co-Fundraising Director with NACE. I love developing and growing relationships with members, future members and guests.  


A foodie at heart, when I’m not working, I’m planning a bucket list of vacations around delicious food experiences and relaxing with her husband Adam and their French Bulldog, Gnocchi.  She also volunteers with the American Diabetes Association helping them with their annual fund-raising events.


Co-Director of Fundraising - Terry Lombardi


As the Banquet and Catering Sales Manager for the Manor Tavern I have enjoyed helping guests celebrate life. I assist guests in making food and beverage selections to complement their special occasion and can help them with their event at the Manor Tavern or offsite catering at the location of their choice. During my almost 20 years that I have been with the Manor Tavern it has been a real pleasure helping guests create memories that will last forever.  A good bit of my time also has been assisting with fundraising efforts by catering the fund raiser itself or helping raise monies for the organization directly.

And last year as co-chair for the NACE event  -Moveable Feast and the Foundation of NACE. I look forward to working together for another year with my fabulous co-chair Mary Carballo and the rest of our fantastic committee !!!

On a personal note I have 3 beautiful children - Tyler, Tori and Ryder and a handsome husband Rich and we live in Fallston, MD

Director of Social Media Ashley Riddle

Ashley Riddle was seeking on-site bridal beauty services for her wedding in 2004 and few such services existed.  As a bride-to-be and a young hairstylist, she immediately recognized an unfulfilled demand.  Combining her passion for hair styling and makeup artistry with enthusiasm for weddings, she launched her company, Up Do’s For I Do’s in 2004.  Her company embraces technology, particularly social media, as a way to communicate with customers.  “Sharing what we are up to at Up Do’s For I Do's through social media affords us the opportunity to showcase our talents, offer a sneak peek at behind-the-scenes photo shoots, publish bridal reviews, respond to questions via Tweets, acknowledge fellow wedding vendors and introduce ourselves to prospective clients,” says Riddle.

Director of Meetings - Emily Williams

Emily Williams is the Catering Manager at the Maryland Club, a private social club located in the heart of Mount Vernon. She works with members, outside clients, and brides and grooms to plan and execute upwards of 250 events per year. Prior to assuming the role of Catering Manager in February, she was the Communications Manager for the Maryland Club, overseeing all aspects of communication to the membership, from e-blasts to marketing collateral for upcoming events to maintenance of the website. Aside from a brief stint in corporate marketing, she has always worked in the hospitality industry, from her first job at Canyon Ranch Resort in Lenox, MA. When she's not busy trying to make clients happy, she is a professional tourist and travels as often as possible. She follows food industry news a little too closely, and is always available for vacation advice or a restaurant recommendation. 

Director of Programs David Addi

I am so happy to be part of the 2017 NACE Board. I joined the board to grow in my leadership skills and to help NACE become the premier organization in the event planning space. I love going to the meetings and meeting new people, and making those connections has really helped me grow my network. I look forward making this year the best year in NACE history!!
